TGIF—Splash!

Disclaimer: This blog post is about my personal life so I apologise for the degree of um, relatable-lity?

TGIF— Went swimming with SORA today at Cel's condo.

Well I'd just say I honestly had loads of fun! Even though I brought along my little kid brother, we managed to have great fun. As a clique, we did stupid stuffs together. At some point of time, I got chased around by SORA and my little bro. Gosh, I was actually screaming for dear life. I MEAN LIKE WHO ACTUALLY WANTS TO BE PUSHED INTO THE BLUE SWIMMING POOL. It's just horrifying, at least to me. We just chilled in the pool since there were basically no else apart from us. And had had some small chat in the pool.

Then we had western food for late lunch. The fish-and-chips was surprisingly scrumptious! I mean like you rarely find good western food around, these days. (I swear that's just plain awful ugh) After the basic needs were all fufilled, we headed back to the condo. In Cel's room, we had a mini h2h talk. It's so good to be chilling with your mates, really. We had some good laugh too.

I think life is only fufilling when you have fun with your good friends. Even if you get into some trouble with your pals once in awhile, it's still great memories. Afterall life is about the moments we relish, the fun we have. We are teenagers so we should lead that youthful life. Go out there, have fun, chill with your good friends at times. Refrain from detrimental behavior as much as you can but still, what's fun without a little trouble? Life is about the mistakes we make, the lessons we learnt.

I doubt anyone of us wants to grow old in future and tell your grandchildren: Oh when I was young, I studied everyday. No recollection of fun or friendships... Nothing but studies, my dear.

Well then, as much as you probably already guessed, we took loads of selfies! Here goes before I say goodbye in advance:

Condemn The Inked Dudes!

Disclaimer: There will be a couple of TFIOS references in this article. Please don't judge an article by its references :-(

Spolier Alert: I WILL BE TRYING TO BRAINWASH YOU INTO ACCEPTING TATTOOS -EVIL LAUGHS-

I think it is aboslutely nonsensical that tattoos are a taboo. In my opinion, tattoos are a form of art. Someone then decides to have art permanently inked onto their skin. Think of it, as perhaps a motivational post-it nore stuck on our skin! What wrong is there to provide yourself with self-motivation with each waking morming?

Apparently, there are infinite faults in our perceptions of tattoos. Some of the many would be crowning tattoos as sinful. Then again in Singapore, tattoos have been long associated with gangs. But we still should get it into our brauns: not every inked dude (or dudette) is a baddie. (Okay?Okay!)

It would also probably be a flaw in our society. We have been raised so as to automatically label the inked people as rebels, outcasts, "Emo". Simply put: Unacceptable. Punk is not an acceptable social label. People generally expresses disdain towards tattoos. In other words, all of us are generally stereotypical.

What has been done has been done. What has been said has been said. Labels may just stay there forever. But maybe the next time you encounter a heavily tattooed dude (or dudette), consider not gaping in disgust. As I said, tattoos are an art form. Just like how we pay money to watch piano recitals, analyse artworks sitting in galleries, we should admire tattoos too! Should you not come to accept tattoos, maybe you could at least respect it.

Afterall, we're all humans from the same society. Tattoos might "go against social norms" etc etc etc. But why are we forcing unique individuals with a liberty to express themselves freely to conform to our likings?

" Acceptance is key to a better, friendlier, happier society "

With that, I thank you for reading my blog post again! Do leave comments and tell me what you think about tattoos and/or my article. Peace out! :-)

If only guys were 1/2 an Augustus Waters

Disclaimer: This written blog post is merely based on my personal preferences. I do not force upon you my liking towards TFIOS. And last but not least, as much as I understand the book is purely fictional, I'm just sharing my views here. If you do not agree, it is perfectly fine. Thank you in advance x

So I recently read The Fault In Our Stars , surprisingly late, as much as you realized.(I'm hoping you have even ever heard of it because um.... It was a recent trend, being "Tumblr material") I would say it was actually much a literature piece, worth the read. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not going to start going on about how good the book is, how romantic it is and how much it appealed to me blah di blah. (Google does the job)

Instead, I would rather touch on how TFIOS is the ideal guide-to-be-a-gentleman handbook. In fact, it would certainly save us girls from heartbreaks if guys were half an Augustus Waters. In short, Augustus is the ideal guy most girls would die for. (Yes, including me)

I think our current generation hast that "fast-food" concept. Everything starts and develops quickly... and of course ends rather instantly too. With the ease of communication through social media and social platforms, from confessing to girls to courtships, everything is hella easy. It definitely spares us the excess embarrassment red-tomato-cheeks kind of confessions but uhm, WHERE IS THE SINCERITY?

Just look at how Augustus confessed to Hazel Grace.

""I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things. I'm in love with you, and I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we're all doomed and that there will come a day when all our labor has been returned to dust, and I know the sun will swallow the only earth we'll ever have, and I am in love with you.”
― John GreenThe Fault in Our Stars

Yes guys nowadays really lack that kind of sincerity. Old-fashioned and cliche as it may be but we girls crave that sort heartfelt words. We girls like to know we are loved. And no we do not need corny pickup lines like: are you a pencil, cause we are meant 2B. They aren't the least bit sincere. And they sound more like you copy-pasted them straight out your grandpa's 1989 paperback print handbook of pickup lines.

Our era of guys needs to know not everything can be forged through Whatsapp and text messages. Sometimes you need to also go the extra mile. Oops I may have deviated a little but yes. Then there was this particular part in the book where Augustus texted Hazel Grace that he couldn't decide what to wear. " Button-down or polo?"  And 30 seconds later Gus stood outside Hazel's doorstep in a button-down. Apparently he bothered to ask for her opinion and even brought along 2 shirts. It shows that Gus actually took Hazel seriously and he wanted her to know. (Yet another to-die-for trait of Augustus Waters!)

I could actually go on and on and on about how guys should be an Augustus waters. (If not at least 1/2 an Augustus) Hence I think it would only be appropriate that we come to a halt this instance. I'm really afraid I might toss and turn in bed tonight, wishing I could meet an Augustus, so it's for my good. ;-)

Think lesser and live more

You could spend forever trying to set things right, trying to come up with the perfect lines. You could ponder over and over, pacing back and forth to think of the perfect proposal. But no matter how perfect you thought your plan was, life is always full of surprises. As much as you thought you could finally think up that one perfect plan, flawless without any loopholes; you fail. You stumble and fall, you come crumbling down. LIfe always counter-attacks your perfect plans. You'd never win and the game is never fair. Whether it is love or friendship, it's never a fair game.

Maybe you had been the perfect friend, giving your friends a shoulder to lean on. And maybe you were the perfect girlfriend, giving him all the space he needed. You think, " damn, I'm not gonna fail this time round". And then the curtains draws, the show begins. That perfectly clean slate gets tainted and you don't even know how the drastic change came about. One minute he was there like a sturdy rock and the next, he would crumble with a slight nudge. And you breakdown, you question yourself.

Why,why, why and why? You question yourself in your head over and over again. At first you blame the other party then the hatred you directed at him/her eventually morphs into self blame. You blame yourself for that one time you didn't care for him/her. You scold yourself for that one time he/she called and you weren't free. You regret that one time you didn't show your love bluntly. You just keep going on and on. You just keep beating yourself up.

But the thing is, nobody knows what to expect from life. It's never a stable wooden table, it rocks and sometimes it breaks into bits. If it hasn't come, then don't think of it. Why overthink and allow it to overwhelm you with second-guesses and  unnecessary worries? Why don't you live for the moment instead and decide as you walk. The more you draw up plans like: oh what to expect and all. It either leads to greater disappointment or pointless insecurities. Really just live and think for the moment. Perfect plans don't exists, Life plays the game better. Mistakes can always come about from nowhere too.

If you've done it and it caused avoidable dramas or pain, then let it be. Stop mopping and beating yourself up with, 'I should've known', 'Why did I?', 'It's my fault', 'I had the choice', 'It wasn't supposed to be this way'. You played the game, you moved that chess piece. Game over or not, you made the choice and it's a done deal. What help does regretting do? What does regretting change? Nothing.

So let it go; forget about the past and live for the present. Don't look too much into the future either, all of us tend to do that. No hopes, no expectations, no unnecessary disappointment. Don't even look back on the future, it doesn't take you back in time, it keeps you stuck in memories. And remember, memories are dead but people are alive. And people change, they move on. Appreciate the ones you still have, the things you still got. And as for those who left, those you lost, get over it. Even if you can't get over it, put it somewhere deep and lock it away in your heart. Stop letting the past or the faraway future affect your choices, affect your present.

You deserve lots more than fading memories and blurry futures.
